Ocean City in June

Last week was tons of fun, as the kids and I joined my Grandma and Aunt Rosie in Ocean City for four days.  The kids and I drove down on Tuesday and after a quick stop at the beach house to change into our suits, we met Grandma and Aunt Rosie at Assateague.  (We had to go to the state park side because the national park was closed for the day).  It was Brielle's first time on the beach!  She spent most of her time being held by her Great Grandma, laughing at her brothers and taking a cat nap.  The boys had a blast.  Eli LOVED the water and totally surprised me with his bravery in trying to jump waves by himself!  He loved jumping waves and/or racing the waves to the shore.  Liam loved jumping waves but wasn't brave enough to try without me holding on.  A lot of the time, he insisted I hold him.  Liam LOVED the sand. He was constantly laying down in it, face planting (on purpose) and generally rubbing it all over.

Day two was fun, too.  The weather was perfect and we headed back to Assateague to go to the National Park side.  Day two was much of the same... we stayed at the beach for about four hours and everyone had fun running around and playing in the water.  Brielle took a nice nap on the beach blanket and hung out with Great Grandma under the umbrella.  That night, we went to Tommy's Sub shop for dinner, where the boys were delighted in watching the rides across the street (Jolly Rodger's).  We then went to Dumser's and ate ice cream outside. YUM.   I let the boys stay up super late that night so Aunt Rosie and I could hang out and talk.

Day three, we went back to Assateague, but first to the visitor center (touch tank! horse movie! nature trail!) and then to the BAY side.  I had never been there before and it was so much fun.  Eli and Aunt Rosie crashed a University of MD nature class and borrowed a net to try to catch fish.  We walked out to the end of the pier with both boys, who were very excited to see people crabbing.  We had a little picnic lunch and then went swimming in the bay.  Eli walked on his hands with his feet behind him "swimming" and was so proud of himself.  Liam wanted to stick with me and I took turns throwing them both in the air and swimming them around in the water. It was a blast and i can't wait to go back there.  On the way home from the beach, we stopped at Rita's for some Italian Ices that we ate on Grandma's porch.

Day four, we spent the morning cleaning and then headed north... we hit a lot of traffic and it ended up taking us 6.5 hours to get home!  We had fun, though, so all was well.

SO MUCH FUN!  Can't wait to go back and have Mike and my mom and his parents join us in August!
